Sometimes a bathroom just needs a solid refresh - not a gut job, not a full overhaul. Just good materials, clean installation, and the right fixtures to pull it together. That's exactly what we did here for a couple who wanted their space feeling fresh and ready for company.

We ran a stacked rectangular tile surround across three walls, floor to halfway up, with a built-in ledge detail that ties the whole thing together. The tile itself has this subtle variation in tone - soft whites and grays mixed in - that keeps it from feeling too flat or too sterile. It's a natural, easygoing look that holds up well and works with just about any style.

The wall-mount matte black faucet was a great call on their part. It keeps the plumbing clean and off the tub deck, and it pairs really well against the neutral tile. The freestanding white soaking tub sitting in that tiled alcove gives the room a finished, intentional look without needing a ton of square footage to pull it off.

What we love about a job like this is how much impact a tile surround can have on its own. You can see it in the before photos - the space was already decent, but the walls made it feel unfinished. Once the tile was set and grouted and the tub dropped in, the whole room changed. Same footprint, totally different feel. That's the value of doing it right.

Good tile work isn't just about looks either. A properly installed surround protects your walls, holds up to moisture long-term, and adds real value to the home. When guests are coming and you want the space to feel put-together, this is the kind of update that quietly does a lot of work.
